LVMTA is a local association of the 501c(3) nonprofit Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Membership is open to any music teacher or business affiliate. Membership is handled by the national association. Your membership in our local association is automatically designated by MTNA based on your Southern Nevada address.

LVMTA advocates for the rights and professionalism of the private music teacher,

LVMTA offers myriad performance opportunities, both competitive and non-competitive, for music students of all ages and levels,

LVMTA members and their students receive member pricing and premier access to LVMTA-sponsored activities,

LVMTA membership is a mark of professionalism that is attractive to many new students and parents seeking a teacher,

LVMTA fosters a sense of community among private music teachers, providing the opportunity for networking, shared resources, and friendships in a profession that is often quite solitary,

Relationships formed through LVMTA often lead to student referrals,

LVMTA offers the opportunity for continuing education, including but not limited to, state and national conferences, workshops, masterclasses, and MTNA certification.

Active Membership is available to any individual professionally engaged in a music activity. Active members receive American Music Teacher, the MTNA e-Journal and are entitled to participate in all MTNA activities, vote and hold office. The active membership year runs from July 1 through June 30.

Active Senior Membership is available to any individual age 70 or higher, who is professionally engaged in a music activity. Active senior members receive American Music Teacher, the MTNA e-Journal and are entitled to participate in all MTNA activities, vote and hold office. The active senior membership year runs from July 1 through June 30.

Collegiate Membership is open to all college music students who are also members of an affiliated state association and a collegiate chapter if available. College members have access to many MTNA services and receive American Music Teacher magazine, the MTNA e-Journal and member discounts, but do not have the right to vote or hold office or enter students in MTNA competitions. The collegiate membership year runs from October 1 through September 30.

University/College/Conservatory Faculty: Please note that the Collegiate Membership is only for students. Faculty must take an Active Membership or Active Senior Membership.
